Joint Compliance - Parametrically Build Single Shear Joint
|
This is a brief demonstration of the power of connecting Excel to Femap and NASTRAN with scripting. In this video, it is demonstrated how a single shear joint (solid elements with contact) can be modeled, a simulation run, and joint compliance extracted from parameters in Excel automatically. Virtual testing like this can drastically reduce budget requirements, and of course the simulations do not have to be run interactively as shown in the demo, but can be batched (looped) to run thousands of cases in series if desired. In this video, two joints are automatically created, and the joint compliance calculated from the simulation results are compared to NASA CR3710.
