Engineering Tools — Uninstall Engineering Tools (00232)
What this tool does
Cleanly removes Engineering Tools from FEMAP's Custom Tools menu
and reverses the SU / DEV class promotions done by
_Install Engineering
Tools. Intended as a clean self-service uninstall path.
What it does NOT do
- It does NOT delete the BAS files from disk. Your Engineering
Tools folder is left intact — just unregistered from FEMAP's
menu. Re-install at any time by re-running _Install Engineering
Tools.
- It does NOT delete
EngineeringTools.ini. Your
preferences (super_user flag, recent paths, per-tool dialog state)
are preserved across uninstall / reinstall cycles.
- It does NOT touch the Joomla help-article state or your
telemetry history on the server. Nothing server-side is changed
by this tool.
How to use it
- Open from Custom Tools > Admin > Uninstall
Engineering Tools.
- Confirm the dialog.
- Tool removes the Custom Tools menu entries, renames SU tools
back to
.su.txt and DEV tools back to
.dev.txt, and writes a flag to
EngineeringTools.ini recording the uninstall.
- FEMAP needs to be restarted for the menu changes to take
effect.
Why uninstall
- Clean machine handover. Returning a corporate
laptop — uninstall first so the next user gets a clean
FEMAP.
- FEMAP version migration. Moving to a new FEMAP
install in a different folder; uninstall the old, install fresh
under the new FEMAP.
- Troubleshooting. Suspect Custom Tools menu
corruption; uninstall + re-install to get a known-clean state.
Restoring after uninstall
Run _Install Engineering
Tools from the same Engineering Tools folder. All your
per-tool preferences are preserved because
EngineeringTools.ini is left in place by the
uninstall.
